I bought the bike one year ago and i can say that the value for the money is absoulte the best. Bike looks good, drives excellent, autonomy could be better and the power for the strait roads is OK. For the hills it lacks a little bit of power but OK.
All in all great bike.
So far so good…. It’s doing the job and so far I’m very pleased with the purchase
I bought the bike on sale for £999 and have currently been using it for the last couple of weeks. For the price it can not be faulted, especially as for me it works out as £740 on the cycle scheme. On Mode 3 (maximum power mode) you have to put almost zero effort in, even up small inclines.
Reviews here don't talk about what the actual range is in real world conditions, so I will add my experience. I live in a mostly flat area, and have been riding in conditions that greatly reduce battery efficiency (minus 5 to 10+ degrees) . That being said, the advertised range is what is to be expected. I have just finished doing 28 miles on max assist mode and I still had 13 percent left, I weigh 84kg. The battery does indeed charge 0-80 percent in 3 hours (8mph charge speed on mode 3) which is perfect if you need a decent top up in a short period of time , with the remaining 20 percent taking an additional 3 hours which I imagine is to prolong battery health.
The only downside is you can not store the bike outside in the rain with the battery removed, as it exposes the connector to the bike and there is no way to buy a cap to cover it. You would need to by a tarpit in such situations or keep the battery in locked.
The bike also does not have lights that run off the battery, and the ones supplied are rubbish, so please buy rechargeable bike lights for front and back.

Great bike
I had asked for the 520 E model and store person had given me the 500 model. The price were same. I had noticed it 2 days after when I was registering it for an Insurance purchase.
So much fun to ride and many admiring comments already.
Hope someone can answer this question: is it compatible with a Thule Chariot Cross? This was the main purpose behind the purchase of an electric bike but I can’t see how to fit it!
I love my Riverside 500e, which I've had for just over 2 years. I've done 3500 miles on it and it hasn't let me down once. I think I could do around 80 miles on one charge on power 1, but realistically with occasional use of 2 and 3 it can cover around 65 miles. I'm a fairly fit 52 year old with no health problems, I just enjoy not getting exhausted, hot and sweaty up hills! Decathlon servicing is very good in Southampton too. This is such a good bike that my road-cycling husband is buying one - when his size comes back in stock! It's reliable, fun and practical, and having had experience of other, more expensive e bike brands would say there isn't a better e bike for the price.

Had the riverside 500e around 3 months and have done just over 600 miles commuting to and from work,. the bike is superb except the fact that the gear or cogs slip whebn in 8th gear. this only happens when you put pressure on it its as if the bike it telling mew to change gear so i dont haveto pedal as fast. apart from this one issue overall its pretty good

Had this e bike for two weeks and have found that my cycling has become more free and easy. .I do not need to use the electric mode in good wind free weather as the bike is so easy going. Up hill what a difference I float up with ease and reach most tops without puffing.
The only fault I can find with the bike is the silly little bell .
Would certainly say if you want an e bike its one to look at
Hi Terence,
Thanks for your review, as for the bell! we sell loads of others to suit your taste.
