Having previously bought a kayak elsewhere and taking it back as it was too small, it was nice to be able to try this one out for size and comfort. As my husband and I as both tall, this was important, and the staff member was very knowledgeable and helpful.
The kayak is brilliant and perfect for what I wanted it for, nice and stable to go on flat coastal waters and and slow rivers with my partner and small dog. I’ve only managed to use it a handful of times in the past 9 months since purchase but noticed a crack on the fin box, last minute check before going away with it the next day. Took it down to my local Decathlon (Gliltbrook) for some advice and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Spoke to a chap called Dave who checked it over and offered to repair it but due to time scales this wasn’t an option so he kindly replaced the complete set for a new one, absolutely brilliant service. Thanks again Dave👍
Just wish the bag was slightly larger for when you are packing it away after use. Would have loved a different colour option.
After 5-6 days of use, the material holding the buckle to which the seat is attached began to tear. also. the ends of the plastic parts where the fins attach cracked when I was folding the boat to pack it.
At the service center, they suggested patching the material, but I said I would only agree to a complete replacement. They refunded my money.
The kayak is comfortable and fun to ride, but it doesn't seem very sturdy.
Hello,
Thank you for your feedback on our touring kayak X100.
I apologize for the problem you encountered with our product.
I hope the solution we suggested gives you complete satisfaction.
For the future, to avoid this problem, we recommend being very careful with the solid parts of the kayak, such as the fin base or the buckles, when folding the kayak. You should avoid folding over these parts to prevent damaging them.
At the end of the following video, Jerome shows you how to fold the kayak properly.
I hope I could help you.
Regards,
Damien

I take my son with me on this and it's great on rivers and easy to manoeuvre. I've taken it on costal kayaking as well and performs well in calm seas.
Only comment is that sides are slightly too large so hard for children to paddle as well.
My Son and I rented the X100 2 person kayak for a day to trial with a few to buying one. We are beginners and enjoyed our day on the river Chelmer in Essex. Although as a structure it felt robust there are parts of the assembled kayak that you just know wont stand the test of time.
The fins and fin boxes are so flimsy you cant even support the weight of the kayak on its own on the fins on a grass bank without possible damage. One of ours was found to be cracked when I returned it and was charged £20 for the damage to a fin box. The store said it may have happened when it was rolled up as its happened before but really, the box shouldn't crack in folding it away. Its because the fins and boxes are flimsy and more like a child's toy than something that is going to be used out doors on the water. We also found that the seats felt comfortable to begin with but required constant tensioning of the back rest. I think the problem is that the Velcro latch for the seat base allows slippage of the seat that in turn causes slackness in the seat back restraint requiring constant adjusting or repositioning of the seat base which is difficult when you are on the water.
When you get down to detail like little orange tags that are sown onto mesh and and other fabrics they just pull off, no thought at all to the load they may take, I grabbed one to steady the boat whilst I was on the bank to move it closer to me and it simply pulled off barely stitched from what I could see. I also found that the seam joint on the side tubes was sharp and in a position that grazed my skin when resting my hand whilst holding the paddle. Maybe that edge wears away with time but I think on the whole other peripheral components will fail before that ever happens.
Will I buy one?
I'm not sure at the moment. We had a great day and I really looked after the rented kayak as I look after everything I own so to find it was damaged is a worry. I researched a number of drop stitch kayaks including useful videos from users on YouTube so know there are plenty to choose from. The ITIWIT is very competitively priced and robust as a structure as said. I'm 6'-3" and 105kg and it felt really secure and stable in the water. I'm also not the most agile in my early 70's so was concerned I would struggle to get in and out off of the river bank but with a paddle board kind of floor I found that easy taking my weight onto the floor and side tubes as I lowered myself down.
Its a shame that corners have been cut on things like the seating, fin/box design and peripheral materials as to buy one I know I would be forever having to fix and repair them to maintain it in a useable state. I would have to live with that.
Very stable great value for the money
Fantastic kayak very stable
Bought this after lots of research. I have only used it a couple of times so far but it appears to be well made and durable. The kayak is easy to inflate and deflate and is easy to towel dry following use. Despite its large size and capacity it is easily paddled by a single person and handles fairly well on the water.
Absolutely fantastic, easy to carry , easy to inflate, stable in the water and easy to pack up afterwards
